ALA AwardsOne of new ALA President Penelope Sanderson’s first tasks as President was to announce the recipients of the 2010 ALA awards. At the ALA Conference dinner, held at The Sebel Albert Park in Melbourne in May, three awards were given to outstanding nominees. These awards are a way of recognizing the incredible dedication and contribution made by some people to the ALA and lymphology in Australasia.

Congratulations to three very worth recipients: ALA award for outstanding contribution to the association – Maree O’Connor Amanda Molony, from Smith and Nephew, who sponsored the awards, presented the trophies. It is planned that these awards will be presented again at the 2012 Conference, with opportunities available for members to nominate those who have contributed to lymphology in Australasia. In addition, Michael Mason was presented with the association’s first Life Membership Award. Maree O’Connor gave the oration, which focused on Michael’s work and his teaching and has been published on page 9 of the July ALA newsletter.
