ALA awards

The ALA will be presenting three Awards at the ALA Conference in Cairns. These awards recognize the commitment and contribution made by members to the ALA and lymphology in Australasia.

Nominations from ALA members for these awards are requested. Please consider nominating someone whom you know has made a significant contribution and would be a worthy recipient of an award.

Inaugural ALA Scholarships 2011

On behalf of the ALA Gift Management Fund Committee and the ALA Council I would like to advise you of the exciting news regarding the successful applicants of the Inaugural ALA Scholarships 2011.

The quality of the applications from members for the education grants made the decisions very challenging, however we are delighted to announce:

• Heidi Hughes from Port Macquarie Base Hospital has been awarded an Education Grant (Rural) $1000 to attend the ALA Conference in Cairns in 2012
• Robyn Sierla has awarded an Education Grant ($1000) to present a paper and attend the ALA Conference in Cairns 2012
• The ALA is very pleased to support the work of Elizabeth Turner, Physiotherapist from Canberra who is currently doing research on Exercise as Medicine for the Management of Lymphoedema in Survivors of Breast Cancer. She has been awarded a $5000 grant to complete this research.

The opportunity to award these scholarships has been made possible by the generous donations from both ALA members and the public to the Gift Management Fund. We thank you for your generosity and encourage you to continue to support the association.
